The problem with activist types like yourself is you don't listen. You can't read the room or just don't care to. The bicycle/public transit thing is the same as the "impossible meat" crew.
They insist people will like it and use it. You're told "we don't want this" but push anyway. They think once the fake meat is everywhere... people will just switch. But the people don't. It doesn't sell. It's a huge flop, just like you were told from the start.
Reality is you could build the damn bike lanes and only you and your five friends would use them. And you'd think "the real problem" is the people who refuse to use it. The ones who told you they wouldn't use it before it was built. You'd never consider yourself the problem for wasting money on something that was never going to pay off.

You think I have 5 friends?
Brother, I'm posting on a message board on Sunday at 5 PM.

The only places I experience 1 lane on I10 is where they have construction to widen it to 3 lanes.
Except the dumb merge coming off the BR bridge headed east

What part of I 10 are you referring to?

No one want to pay for it
Kip wanted to in the 90s.

It's the damn bridge in Port Allen
You could build a new, widened offramp while the current one exists. You could do it with a lesser curve to make it safer, too. And it would only require a half-mile of new elevated highway. That's it. 0.5 miles. Is Louisiana incapable of building that?

You guys still act like you don’t like spending more time on I-10???

You got it bro. Public transport is gay woke leftie shite. Just need that one more lane and the interstate will finally be fixed

This is true.
The more lanes, the more people decide to take it. Look at the Katy Freeway.
If you want traffic reduction, the way to go is increase funds to bicycle infrastructure and public transit so that they are desirable options.
I'm guessing you got downvoted to oblivion because of tthe bike suggestion but you're right about induced demand.
Another way that's known to reduce traffic is adding tolls but letting carpooling to ride for free, cuts down on a lot of unnecessary trips.

Build something that allows people to cycle to work. Yes, even in Louisiana
Nobody would want to smell me after biking 6 miles to work in July, and it storms almost every single afternoon.

They need more lanes because there's traffic because more people want to drive their own cars.
There are already bus routes. If the people wanted public transit, the buses would already be overcrowded... Why isn't that the case?
In typical commie fashion, you're not interested in what the people want for themselves. You're interested in railroading the people into what you want them to do.

I spend zero time on I-10 or I-12 commuting to work. I have a 15 minute surface street commute. My wife's is 10 minutes. We go home and eat lunch sometimes.
Choosing where you live relative to work, kid's school, etc is a quality of life decision imo, unless you just can't afford to live close, or don't want to.

You don't see the circular logic here?
"The public transport is bad, so people don't want to ride it, so we shouldn't fund it, so the public transport is bad..."

This is just stupid name-calling. The people want to get where they're going. They also don't want to sit in traffic. By all means, add another lane. That's not going to fix the traffic.

It's ridiculous that with as much traffic as it gets, there's so many bottlenecks on this POS. It's basically a 1 lane highway for a 1/3rd of it's way throughout the state.
Its not that bad unless you try to go to beach on a summer weekend like an amateur

Yeah definitely need a bike lane on the interstate.

Public transportation is already funded and people don't want to ride it.
Tell me: what is your plan to change that?
Do you think if they replaced every single bus in use, bought an entire brand new fleet of buses... suddenly more people would want to ride them?

The closest CATS bus stop is probably over a mile from my driveway. Ok, I walk the mile with my laptop and hope it doesn't rain. Then I get dropped off a half mile from the office.
Need to run an errand at lunch? Well, I'm fricked. We just don't have the population density for public transportation and the city isn't laid out for it. BR is mostly one big suburb.
Posted on 7/13/25 at 7:39 pm to The Scofflaw
It could be 12 lanes and these brain dead fricks will still find a way to hack it up.

people are shitty drivers more lanes isnt gonna fix that
