I go both depending on weather.
If it hot and I don't want to sweat through, I will throw on a crew. Otherwise, nothing.

Nothing under a polo. Deep v under a button down or dress shirt most of the time.

I always wear a shirt underneath. But they are thin Stafford brand from JC Penny. They are expensive for a 4 pack, but they last a long time.

Undershirts are awful. Exceptions can be made when wearing shirt and tie and your nipples are visible through the shirt.
