And the machines you operate are given to the store and also maintained completely for free?

And they do have someone working that area for issues like buying alcohol or things not scanning.

The discount is that I don't have to interact with store employees and I can quickly exit the place before I see someone I know.

The discount is in the form of time since you don't have to wait behind the only two registers open. I hate when I go to Rouse's after work for an item or two and I can't just do self check out. I've gotten real good at the Neighborhood Walmart and can do a full cart as fast as the checkout lines.
