November.
I was living in Idaho and a guy there opened a video game store after retiring from the Air Force.
After a year or so he started renting out new release movies for $1 (DVD) and $1.25 (Blu-ray) a day, which is cheaper than RedBox.
He did it right too. He bought the movies through AAFES so he didn't pay taxes and he bought the combo packs with a DVD and Blu-ray for $15.
Basically he doubled his chances of making a profit. Once the movie was out for a month or so he sold the DVDs for $5 and the Blu-rays for $7.
Genius really.
ETA: I moved back to Alabama on November 6th.

I miss them. It was easier to be reminded of movies I had forgotten about and had not yet seen. The newer stuff was more clearly delineated and there wasn't a ton of bullshite in the way. Netflix streaming is limited and Prime you have to page slowly through shite.

Actually like 2011 or so. I had no idea the day I rented "The Backup Plan" with Jennifer Lopez on DVD that it would be the last movie I ever got from blockbuster

I don't think I've even seen one in a decade.

I used to go to the one at the Northgate of campus until it closed. Before Netflix was big into streaming blockbuster had the deal where they'd mail you movies like Netflix. You could return it to the store for free movie rental.
One where I lived right after college stayed open until probably 2011 or so. I think we stopped when it was closing just because we knew it's probably be the last time we'd see one

I worked at Movieland Video during high school and remember when DVD’s first became available.
I recall rewinding all those VHS tapes before re-rental, and having to call people about their unpaid late return fees.
On January 1, 2000 I opened the store and the reports would not stop printing; the computer system was glitched because of the year 2000.

2012ish. Miss it sooooo much. So much fun in elementary school getting excited to go to blockbuster on Friday nights in the mid 90s!

There is still a video rental place here in West Monroe. It amazes me to see cars parked outside on Friday nights.

It’s West Monroe...I mean, are you really surprised?
