Who cares. People bitching in this thread probably never watched an episode of the Simpsons or haven't watched it since they were young. And before you get too outraged, I remember when the Simpsons first came out and all these southern church groups were condemning it and boycotting for it's vulgarity. My how far we've come.

I don't understand what the hell is wrong with a racial or cultural stereotype. Unless it's used to subjugate (and the argument that all stereotypes subjugate ipso facto, is circular) or is otherwise inherently negative (e.g.s, stupidity, violence).

I once saw a Chinese comedian come on stage and say, “haro, my name is Ming.” Then a long pause and he says, “naw I’m jes kiddin y’all. I’m bob from Alabama.” In a deep southern drawl. Was funny as hell. I did not see that coming. So maybe they can Apu have a southern accent.
