re: When joggers and walkers use the road instead of the sidewalk

I run on the sidewalk because the chance of me getting hit by a car is pretty much 0 but I understand the need to avoid uneven tripping hazards. Hugging the side of the road is one thing but there’s a special place in Hell for those walkers/joggers who think they can just run right in the middle of the street….especially around dusk and especially if they have a stroller.

Buddy of mine hit a junkie walking in the middle of airline highway under the unlit cloverleaf overpass the other night.
Tore the scumbags arm off.
He lived…which, eh at least my buddy doesn’t have that on his conscience, even though it was no fault of his own.
People who get hit in the road not at crosswalks should have no legal recourse and be forced to fix your vehicle, but odds are they don’t have any money.
Here’s a solution, take it from the campaign funds of the people they vote for.
ETA: I see, after reading more than the headline, that he seems to be talking about a different sort of “jogger”.
In a subdivision off the main roads isn’t a big deal, but stay on the sidewalk at the thoroughfares

Long distance runners avoid concrete like the plague. Why so mad?
They should avoid asphalt too. Go run in the woods or other places made for running. Roads are made for giant metal beasts fueled on dinosaur blood.
Not fleshbags.

People are actually in here justifying walkers and runners being on the roads. Lmao
OP, you could tag them with the side mirrors real hard they'll learn to get off the damn street real quick.

I do it specifically to piss you off Kevin.

Lot of potholes in the sidewalks where you live?

I’ve been told that asphalt is “softer” than concrete so it’s easier on the joints. Well if there’s trucks driving on asphalt all day it isn’t that damn soft is it?
Without discussing the merits of your post, this paragraph makes zero sense.

Not sure where you live but the sidewalks in south Louisiana are unnavigable with any sort of stroller or after a cold six pack

Roads are for public use. There’s no laws prohibiting running/walking on them. I’d guess most runners pay more in taxes than you which in my mind gives them more of a right to use the roads as they wish. Driving is easy. Running is hard and even harder on sidewalks. Stop being bitch about dumb shite.

How “soft” can asphalt be if it can support cars driving on it? Can’t be that much “softer” than concrete.

Are they paying property taxes on their shoes?

Why do you think concrete roads remain in good condition way fricking longer asphalt ones
Posted on 7/20/21 at 9:54 pm to Stonehog
Usually well to do people. It’s hard work. Not a hobby that attracts lazy people.
You don’t see people jogging in shitty neighborhoods.

Yeah true, one day I just happen to walk to the front of my house and look out the front window, before going into the garage… idk why I did it but I see this older guy probably 60’s lightly jogging on the sidewalk then all of a sudden he just goes down face first like he tripped ( there is barely a 1/2 in difference in the sidewalk slabs ) and it’s at the end of my sidewalk approaching my neighbors if not his, don’t matter tho never even got mentioned, anyway I go outside to him face down in a puddle of water on the sidewalk.
I turn him over try to sit him up his face is all busted up bloody, call 911…. a few weeks later his wife knocked on my door thanking me and she gave me a gift card to a restaurant. She said he broke his arm nose some other shite… he was recovering fine tho.
People need to look down more when they walk I’ve seen people slip and fall on all types of shite because they just don’t look down.
I’ve found a lot of cash in my life out in public on the ground just looking down, 50$ bill 100$ bill once at a gas station, and numerous other small amounts.

There is no way in hell a 150 pound jogger is going to somehow make an impression on an asphalt road over a concrete sidewalk.

I'm fricking speechless as to why so many people downvoted you. Guess cuz there's many idiots out there. The road is for cars. Sidewalks are for people. If you wanna be a retard and run in the road which is for cars, don't cry if I run you over. Simple as fricking that. Don't wanna get run over, stay on the sidewalk where you belong and don't be a brainless retard.
