How much do they make off of ESPN? No live sports is hurting them.

Disney is a publicly traded company. What would you do with your shares if the parks were never to open again?

Some of you live in Fantasy Land.

No. I'm saying it's a terrible thing.

Fantasy land is thinking Disney temporarily closing their parks to avoid being crucified in the media is an indication that this has somehow become worse.

so keep people of different cultures separate? how far do you go with it? How would the US look if it were up to you? I'm genuinely curious.

So from 50 billion a year to 25 billion a year. What a pity. I'll reserve my worry for less fortunate companies.

I think we would promote American culture. A culture based on American values, with the Constitution as the basis, American unity and American nationalism. For starters, anyone who migrates here must speak English.

E Pluribus Unum doesn't mean "out of many, many." Diversity isn't our strength, it never has been. Unity is.

Between all of the parks and cruise line being closed, all movie production and releases being delayed and what has to be horrible ratings for their ESPN holdings they must be taking a bath.

culture and nationality are not synonymous. There are MANY different cultures in the US which are American in origin. Cajuns and Mormons are both American, but could not be more different culturally.

Meh. Historically, not really, at least not in the manner that Pecker is describing.

You know, no one outside of La. is mentioning Mardi Gras as any kind of big problem.

Not from what I’m hearing. Everytime someone asks why Louisiana in particular is getting hit so hard, the top answer is always Mardi Gras

I work full time at Disney and thankfully the company is still paying us (at least until mid April). I'm a tour guide so I'm one of the few people who has an hourly wage and can accept tips so sadly I'm losing about $200-$250/week in tips. With that said though I'm mostly thankful just to have a job and my $640/week base wage (based on 40 hours/week, some weeks I work more but obviously they are just paying me 40).

Disney will get hit hard but they'll survive this. They already sent all of the college students (part of an internship that Disney does) home so that's about 10-20% of the workforce right there. The vast majority of the executive/administrative/office/technical/HR/legal departments are of course still working but just working remotely. All of my direct leaders are working remotely.

Disney couldn't have timed the release of Disney+ better. Disney+, along with Disney Consumer Products (aka the products you buy online) will at least allow some cash to be flowing into the company. The Media Division (ESPN/ABC) of course is being hit hard but they aren't a big part of the company anyway. The company is obviously still taking a bath right now due to the Parks Division and the Studio Division being completely down.

It was just announced today that Iger is giving up his entire salary and all of the executives are taking significant pay cuts, so hopefully that means Disney will keep paying employee wages.

I will say I'm still considering other employment options right now just in case Disney does decide to furlough employees. But at least for now we're okay.
