When did you stop caring about a clean vehicle?

In my younger days, my vehicle stayed clean. Hand washed at least once a month and hand wax every six months or so. At some point I skipped hand washing and started doing the drive thru car wash.
Now I pass it thru car wash when it is really nasty and then I select the cheapest wash option. Have not hand waxed in probably 15 years. Can’t recall the last time I used tire shine. Guess I was around 50 when I stopped caring. Never even realized I stopped caring.

When I started counting on Mother Nature for a car wash.

When I had kids. I used to love getting up early on a Saturday morning and detailing my truck. Especially in the fall during football season. I'd watch GameDay in the garage while working. These days, I use what little free time i do have to do stuff with my kids. Don't even give the cleanliness of my vehicles a thought until they get to the point I can't stand it anymore.

The outside of my truck I’ll let slip, but I still can’t stand when the inside of my truck is a mess. Don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Can’t be a quitter. Disclaimer: i have raised kids and traveled to multiple sports yearly and haul kids in my vehicle now for high school football. Never give in!

I hand wash and vacuum mine every two weeks. Didn't a shite about it when I was younger. Its my first new vehicle and I'm hoping to keep it a while.

We have a car wash very close by and pay for the monthly pass. I probably go through 5x a month and then vacuum 2x a month. My vehicle is only 18 mos old so I’m trying to keep it nice. The give-a-shite will wane around the 3yr mark, is my guess.

I never cared a ton when I had younger kids. My kids are 18 & 12 now so I can keep it much cleaner. I just got my first black vehicle so I treated myself to a monthly carwash membership & wash/vacuum every weekend.

In my experience, the older I’ve gotten, the more I care about the cleanliness of my vehicle, outside and inside.

I have three kids. I was their primary driver. At one point we had 5 sports teams at the same time. My car was never dirty. Train your kids to get their shite out of the car when they do. I had a usb vacuum, leather wipes, and detailing putty. When I was waiting for practices to end I would detail the car. There is no excuse

My brother is like this and has done this since he got his first vehicle in high school. When his kid was growing up, etc. He washes his vehicle almost every week.
One of his first jobs was working at a body shop and he used to detail all the cars. When he left that job, he worked at a funeral home and would detail the hearses. The owner would pay him extra to wash his vehicle while at work. When he got a career job and left, the guy asked him if he could still call him to wash his vehicle. He said he would pay him double to do it once a month which he had no interest in doing.
But its an obsession for him almost. It takes him about 3 hours every time he washes his truck, then if he washes his wife's car that's another 3 hours. He cleans the rims with a toothbrush. He doesn't miss a spot on the inside and he drives slow because he is worried about getting his truck dirty.

I’m in my 50s I still care. There’s a guy in my hometown that works for a local car dealership cleaning their vehicles. I have him pick up my truck, usually about once a month depending on the weather, and take it in for a thorough cleaning inside and out. When he’s done, it looks like it just came off the showroom floor.
