In the 70s and 80s you couldn’t watch a football or baseball game on TV without seeing at least one commercial for it.

I had to watch a million of those commercials as a kid. Now that I need it, Grecian formula is nowhere to be found.

That stuff contained lead acetate and was banned in most places.

Probably, and just a guess, but when people quit buying it.

A great beer. Of course I was a teenager stealing them from my father.

My mom's family has a long history of going gray early, so for about 10 years, I used Just For Men dye because to slightly alter a Garth Brooks song title, I thought "I'm much too young to look that damn old." However, at roughly 50, I gave in and let the gray take over. FWIW, I'll be 63 in July and I've been totally gray for the last 11 - 12 years.

Two slightly funny stories - when I was using the dye, I asked my wife one day to pick up a box at Wal-Mart, and I told her to get the darkest brown available. She came home with black/brown dye for Black men. It was the last time I made that request of her . . .

Just after turning 50 and being all gray, my wife and I were shopping for a new tub, toilet, sinks, etc for a bathroom remodel. My wife is the same age as me, yet at Luter's Supply in Tylertown, MS, a salesman told my wife "You might want to get this gray headed fellow one of those walk-in tubs!" Gee thanks, jackass!

You want a fricking medal, Mr. Insecure? I started getting grays at 15. Salt and pepper when I graduated from LSU. Mostly gray by 30, totally white by 40. I'm 57 and have been gray for 4 decades. I have never put one fricking thing in my hair. And you know what? Women dig it.

Guys who dye it are the same as bald guys who wear rugs. And trust me... people can tell. From the first time you did it, they could tell.
