We've flattened the curve so much that my brother who is a doctor at a hospital just took a 25% pay cut cause there's little to no work for him..... he's still got 75% of his livelihood and a daughter on the way...LETS KEEP FLATTENING

In an unflattened curve, more people would die due to an overwhelmed healthcare system that can’t treat everyone at the say time; thus certain people may have survived with adequate care attained in the “flattened” model. Of course there are plenty that die regardless.

Also, in the unflattened model there is zero herd immunity, and pretty much everyone is susceptible. In the flattened model, with mass testing done in conjunction with phased reopening, herd immunity is established to some degree so the likelihood of spread/total number of cases is lower.

Whether it’s worth destroying our economy over is a different debate. But the medical reasoning is sound.

I do fear this.

I honestly would like to see opening up state by state in May sometime. With people following safe protocol, it’ll be ok. That means graduated openings of restaurants and such, not 50+ people at a crawfish boil boozed up and getting careless.

The 18-22 month time frame posed was always ridiculous because the herd does need to get stronger, and civil unrest from a crashed economy will result in far worse.

The whole point, in my mind, is just work smart. The virus is real, it can get out of control, but it has been sensationalized. Again, just be prudent, but how many “baws” here really are.....
