So you expect people to respond to every email you send?
If it's to coworkers and a response is requested or expected, I do.

Usually. Or it will be at some point in the near future.

I am not in sales, and I am not suggesting customers or potential customers should respond to every e-mail the OP sends.

In a typical 24 hour period it is not uncommon for me to get 500+ emails. It would be impossible to catch every email that warranted my attention. Now every phone call my way is answered though.

I never realized that there was an invisible army of sales people out there secretly pissed that I never give a personal answer to their spammed out product launch press releases.

Set your email to request read receipts.

I guess it all depends on the person. If its to someone who is know for being irresponsible or fricks around then, if its at work it would be more productive to go talk to them in person. If its someone who is a dependable type and you don't know what else they are working on, then there is a good chance that priority is playing a factor. If its about something you need, but not as important to the other party, again, that's when you have to put a little more effort in and go see about it yourself.

This is right up there with the cashier complaining that people don't tip any more. Nobody ever tipped cashiers because they didn't deserve it. Nobody treats salesmen with respect for the same reason. Go get a real job.

That's because most of them are taught that they are selling the best product ever and it makes no sense why someone isn't racing out to purchase more.

It's not really about any of that. It has more to do with the profession you are in and your tendencies with sending e-mail. I am not in an office, and I usually have five jobs going at once, happening all over the country and internationally. People are frequently traveling or in meetings, so picking up the phone isn't always the best option. I also get more e-mails than I send, and if it's one of my staff or other coworker, I am responding to them within 24 hours, and almost always sooner.
I get annoyed when partners don't respond, because I don't e-mail them with unimportant things, and it always impacts them.

Sidekick is a plugin for Outlook and is a great free tool to see when people open your email

When managers and supervisors started sending emails for every stupid thought that popped into their heads.

Just because it is related to your work does not mean it is related to whoever you are spamming's work.
His 500 salesman all emailed him about the newest, coolest widget that fits his needs perfectly. He decided to work, and not get fired for spending his whole day answering spam.
Congrats on being a modern day carnival barker. An E-Barker with product knowledge, telling them about the two-headed baby or bearded lady.

I once had a guy basically call me stupid because we declined to use his product. You sound like you may be the guy.
