I go for the cheapest options. It's a car, not a house.
Uhhh, considering many people spend multiple hours per day in their car, getting the options you want/need is definitely appealing, and justifiable.
No point in spending 30k plus on a vehicle only to cheap out on the options that will make it more enjoyable over the years of usage.

I need all the driver assist/safety options so I don't wreck it looking at my phone while in traffic.

Some do, some don't. Heated rear seats in Louisiana? Ain't worth beans.

All those extras will eventually get cheaper to put into cars too.
I like tech in my car. I have an upgraded 12 speaker Sony system in my car which sounds amazing. I have the big screen control with all the doo dads. Proximity entry and push start is one of the best things ever. Never knew I'd love that so much. I never have to take my keys out of my pocket. Lots of other cool things too.

That's true. Fortunately, I never had to face the commute that some people do.

Cooled seats, though, are fricking awesome. Chilled nuts and no swamp arse in August is bliss.

Most of the features in my vehicles came from bundled packages. My car came with lane departure and forward collision alert. I really liked it after having it and was willing to pay a little more for it when we got the wife's car. Or at the very least, shop different models that may have it included in a base package. When you get that, you get the auto sensing wipers, navigation, blah blah blah. I probably wouldn't pay for it, but it's certainly nice. The one thing that I never would have paid for, but now that we have it, I think I would, is the 360 birds eye view camera. I lived without backup cameras until 6 months ago, now we can see everything around the vehicle. Parking in a garage in a tight space is soooooooo much easier now. I'm spoiled for it.

In a lot of cases more options means more shite that breaks later and needs fixing. There exceptions that are so useful as to be worth it.

No problem. You buy what makes sense to you, based on your wants vs needs vs budget. And I'll do the same. Everybody wins. I'd rather have the options to get what I want rather than just a base model with no options for bells and whistles. This is America, not Soviet-era Russia.

It's Swedish actually.

In the car a large portion of your daily life.
Keep it for generally 5-7 years.
Being comfortable in it is worth the extra cost if extrapolated over a daily value construct

A turbo 4 cylinder at 250 Hp or $3400 more for a turbo and supercharged 4 cylinder at 316 Hp (or $11400 for a 400 Hp hybrid)...that's what the thread's about...how do you justify that?
I don't. I go 3-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 354hp.

I just don't get the backup cam, video screens and touch screen GPS bullshite. It's a car, I want it to take me somewhere, I don't want to live in it.

Nice ride. I'm weighing options for a purchase in 6-9 months.
I'm a little all over the map with what I'm looking at, but currently focused in on the 4Runner Limited.

How am I supposed to launch 0-60 in 3.8 seconds with 250hp?
