10 month old screaming his head off wouldn't bother me. I would actually feel sorry for the parents. Now a five year old kicking the back of my seat would make me want to flush the little bastard down the toilet on the plane.

but it would have been nice here.

Sucking on a pacifier would have likely helped him clear his ears when the pressure was changing and made him less fussy.

Similar to chewing on gum when a flight takes off.

The only "bad" experience I had with a baby was the mom that breastfeed her baby the entire flight...on the boob closest to me(she was sitting right next to me).

My youngest puked on a flight so the lady sitting next to my wife had a much worse experience

If this is the right answer, next time I'll bring a bunch of chickens and a goat on board too. It's all okay, right?

No, that's not okay since it's not legal.

I guess the counter argument would be, unless it's a medical emergency, why are you bringing your small child on a plane?

So if your parents live in a different state than you...and cannot afford to fly or maybe cannot fly due to medical reasons...you just wait to introduce them to their grandchildren when they are older? Or drive across the country on a long road trip with a baby because some stranger they have never met can't handle 2 hours on a plane with a baby possibly crying for part of it?

I'd rather a 2 year old screaming in my face and punching my nuts the whole time than a smelly fat next to me taking up the entire row.

The care package is quite indicative of the narcissism that pervades our culture. It's amazing how so many parents fear that their child is ruining life for others who have apparently forgotten they once cried and shite themselves in similar situations.

I try to help them in any way even if it's just letting the parents know I understand the struggle.

I call the stewardess over, tell her to bring a tiny bottle of vodka to the baby and to put it on my tab. Then I give the mom a wink and the dad a thumbs up.

I feel for the parents more than anything. Having a child, I know the feeling of knowing EVERYONE on the plane despises you due to uncontrollable circumstances.

Having said that, it still drives me to drink more.

I think being considerate of others is the exact opposite of narcissism.

yeah the care package is kinda dumb, if you can't handle babies on planes there are a few options

1. first class
2. drive
3. buy your own plane

I wasn't postulating the parent to be the narcissist. I'm talking about the fact that the parent feels compelled to do such a thing for fear they are violating others; they feel this way because they know how self-important everyone is.
