That's the answer they wanted. Based on the wording of the question, the correct answer is 40.

That one caught me as well. I just put 10 and ran with it. Didn't want to dwell on it too long.

You're basically flipping a coin on ambiguous questions like that one, and all these tests seem to have at least one. Frustrating.

Reading comprehension is your friend. It says in the question that the boys average was 12 each. If you pay attention that number was for each individual boy so it is implied in the question they ask about the girls that the answer should be individual as well.

Question was not misleading or ambiguous at all. It was done the way it was for a reason; to catch people slipping by trying to go as fast as possible answering the questions.

I got a 35% the first time and took it again and got a 68%.

I was only about 22 questions in when it timed out the first time. I am sure when people prepare for this they are told to not spend time hung up on figuring out an answer to a problem that is troublesome to them. The first time, I tried to get everything right.

The second time I just input an answer on the write in lines if I thought it would take more than 15 seconds to figure out the math and moved on. There are to many easy ones to get hung up killing the clock on the more difficult ones.

Got 40/50 for 80%. Do they get paper/pencil for math? Some of those are tough to do in head, but 4?

Edit- go re-read question. Its 10.

Some notable scores:
Greg McElroy (48)
Tim Tebow (22)
Cam Newton (21)
Morris Claiborne (4)

I'm assuming these numbers are questions correct and not percentages of questions correct.

I scored a 42 (84%)

I knew I missed one of the first ones but did not go back to change it because I did not want to hit back 40 times. I never did all that well in school but have always done well on things like this and IQ test.

some of those NFL score

Not always.

quote:

A basketball team has eight boys and four girls on the roster. The boys average 12 points each. The team averages 136 points as a whole. How many points do the girls average?

Boys - each
Team - whole
Girls - unspecified

To solve the problem, you have to calculate how many points the boys average, which is their individual average multiplied by the number of boys, 8 x 12. To calculate how many points the girls average, you subtract this product from 136, and 136-96 = 40. The question asked for how many points the girls average, and so the answer is 40. If they wanted the individual average, they needed to say so, like I said.

By reading stuff into the question that wasn't there, you got lucky on the mindreading aspect of the question. That's all.
