I've seen reports that suggest happiness increases with salary up to $50-75k, at which point there is no correlation between increased salary and increased happiness.

On one hand, at a certain level, getting bumped 25k means little compared to even slightly better circumstances (doing a more preferable type of work, different group/dept, etc.). So I think that the happiness derived from money declines - particularly when you're only keeping 65% of it.

But 50-75k doesn't get you much in many places, and 110k doesn't get you much in Dallas/Atlanta/Houston, much less NY/DC/SF/LA

That's pretty weak. I get over twice that now which is a bit overkill, but I'd want 20 or so

Yeah I meet all of that but the 4 10s part. I get 28 days but that's sick and vacation. 4 10s would actually be inconvenient for me with a kid in school.

It was a 110k if you lived in a major city like NYC or LA.

So broke essentially

$110K and single isn't broke in L.A. Of course that could depend on a few factors.

Single/not having a bunch of dependents, yes you are. Some of you have no idea how much it cost to live anywhere outside of South la. Someone else in this thread said you can't live in Dallas for 110k which is idiotic.

Saw a guy on Tv yesterday state that the ideal salary for most was 52k a year.

After that quality of life went down.

I think you're misremembering what was actually said.

?

Unless you're single with no dependents, 110k is pretty limiting in any of those cities.

I make 170k a year with 4 kids. It's still tough. I would say about 250k to 300k would make it easy for a family with 4 kids.

I travel with a camper. I work on the road for a living. That's an extra cost for me.
