I recall being thrown out of a bar YEARS ago. It was very Frat Daddy. But my buddy was accused of decking a guy. He was just standing there. We get taken outside by bouncers with all of the guys ready to kick our arse. I had just walked out of the bathroom and had ZERO idea what was happening.
Bouncers basically told us they believed us and had been watching the punched guy for a while and knew he was gonna be hit. But they couldn't keep us from a beating if we stayed. The ENTIRE time the "mouth" is chirping. It was 2 vs about 12. I went all Tombstone. Told "mouth", "Look we are gonna get our arse kicked here, but I swear to GOD your buddies are gonna have to tell you about it, because you are gonna be asleep for my arse whipping."
"Mouth" was quiet. Bouncer chuckled and told us to GTFO. We drove home.

Curious, but what's the reasoning here? Are you looking for size, proper positioning, a tip to which hand he's going to use, weapons (brass knuckles), or all of the above? Generally, fist punching as seen in the movies doesn't work out well for the puncher.

True. FAR too many variables. These are case by case. Unless you are drunk. Which case make sure you are the first to swing.
I have a couple of "likes to fight" buddies. Or at least they were in younger years. Both are definite guys whose knuckles you should check. One guys "rule" was if a guy gets within arms reach, SWING. Most fights have the guys who are dumb enough to get nose to nose without swinging. His rule is/was, don't be that guy. If a dude gets that close, it's a green light.

Yessir. That's the first thing Pops taught me. "You're not going to be big enough to let them throw the first punch. If it's obvious it's going to go down, and they get within arm's length, hit'em."

An older Middle eastern guy I used to work with said there was a rule they had. If a guy takes his jacket off there may be a fight, but if a man takes off his watch? He IS FIGHTING.

Its kind of a girlie move but if you've got shoes or boots on a hard kick to the shin is the perfect setup for a hard palm across the nose and the strong possibility of knocking the nose cartilage askew from the nub. A fist to the nose will often leave the two beautiful black eyes. The nose is a prime target all around, assuming you're not in real fear for your life

I've done some good work from putting smaller guys in a headlock. But don't punch the top of their head. You gotta sweep those punches into the face.
But for bigger guys I try to throw the first punch. And don't ever posture up and dance around talking a bunch of shite. If you are gonna fight somebody, get down to it.

Depends, if they are to the side of me close I usually go with an elbow to the face. If they are in front I prefer to counter.
