My 18 year old son loves classic country and rock. He don't listen that fake shite they have on the radio.

Greta Van Fleet would like to have a word with you. I’m not a fan but they are one of the biggest bands out there right now completely ripping off 70s rock... one band in particular.

Serious question: Where are folks finding new tunes these days? I mean it's not like back when there were local FM stations pumping out the music du jour. With the exception of a couple "new" country stations, everything I hear on terrestrial radio is "classic"--whether it's rock, country, whatever.
I get an occasional current recommendation through my YouTube music subscription (formerly Google Play), and I actually ran across a few musicians that I now follow by watching the Audience Network on DirecTV (a channel that was cancelled early 2020).
Otherwise, with the ability to seek out and choose my preferred music, I find and listen to what I grew up hearing--an assload of Waylon and Willie. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The oldest people born in the year 2000 are well into their 30s?
A good rule of thumb for millennials is:
1. Coming of age in the new millennium and
2. Can remember 9/11
If they don't fit those two, they aren't a millennial. Younger is a gen z (zoomer) and older than that is gen X

Because most people and their music sucks. It fun to talk shite on them. Jam bands are the fricking worst.

It's nonsensical shite. I appreciate good musicianship, but at least put out music that's pleasant to listen to.

You don’t like 14 minute songs with 3 different guitar solos all playing the same scale?

Over the years I've come to the realization that it's not the music that I hate, it's the annoying fans that make me hate the band.

Do current LSU students even read TD anymore?
I feel like young people don't care much about sports in general compared to older generations, so that probably keeps them from TD.

Anytime I hear Widespread Panic being played I go to my truck and make sure the truck and toolbox are locked up tight. Which is a shame because I kind of like WP. But by and large their fans will steal anything they can sell for a nickel. The Deadheads weren't like that.

As a result, Baton Rouge consistently punches well above its weight class as far as producing original music. The scene here for rock is arguably superior to much larger markets like Denver, Phoenix, Tampa, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Milwaukee, etc

jam bands are one of my least favorite musical experiences. But even more so is the garbage rap music coming out of England/Australia. They are appropriating American rap big time and their accents make it sound so ridiculous
Sorry I know we are discussing rock and roll's downtick but some youtube commercial came on with some UK "drill" artist or something and I immediately started laughing.

takes talent and skill and understanding of composition to make beats and rhymes.
You tried, bless your heart. Now stick with me youngin. I agree with your statement above but additionally, that means in addition to what you said, real musicians must possess the knowledge of how to actually play instruments. To say it where your “wet behind the ear” mind can comprehend.... Knowing how to mix beats/rhymes is easy when compared to knowing how to mix beats/rhymes AND playing instruments WHILE harmonizing with several members of a band and not hitting the auto tune.
