What's the strangest job interview you've ever had?

Interviewed with a professional firm last week. Wow is all I can say.
Firstly, it was an ambush. When scheduled a few days before, I was told that I'd be interviewing with a specific person. So I do my due diligence on this baw and get the low down on him and everything. Show up to the interview and it's a panel interview with him and 3 other partners. Ok it would have been nice to prep for that type of interview but oh well.
First red flag I got though was when the HR lady put me in the conference room and said they'd be coming in soon, but that they were all very relaxed and it would be a nice conversation. "It's not going to be an interrogation" she laughed. Yea that was bullshite. Felt like I was on the stand being cross examined. Never had that experience before. In all my previous interviews, including ones that I somehow got despite not having nearly the experience level they were looking for. It's always been friendly and conversational.
This one was very adversarial and the main dude asking the questions was basically negging me the entire time. Like baw, you brought ME in to interview. If you have such a problem with my resume why the frick did you waste my time and yours?
When I say main guy asking me the questions, I mean the ONLY guy asking me questions. There's 3 other people in the room and they just sat there practically silent the entire time. Didn't ask me any questions and gave a "what he said" (if anything at all) to all the answers the main dude gave. I mean shite, these people are Louisiana/LSU people and I asked if any of them were going to the game and the main guy said "No" and the rest just didn't even respond.
At one point the guy even shite on his own bosses about how they were soft and didn't demand enough out of the associates. This dude was also in his mid 30s so it wasn't like he was some old a-hole complaining about millennials.
After the 3rd bout of awkward silence I had enough and just said "Ok do y'all have any more questions for me?" Dead silence. Said "Ok thanks for bringing me in". Main guy shook my hand. One of the others sheepishly said thanks and the other two just walked out without saying a word.
So they just left me in a conference room to show myself out.
I'm not mad about it. Happy to learn about the place and learn that it's not for me. Would be mad if I actually loved it and felt I crushed the interview, and then didn't get the job. Really just perplexed that these people would waste time out of their day for something they seemingly had zero interest in. The whole thing was cold from the beginning. Took about 30 seconds to get the vibe that every second they spent with me was a second they weren't billing clients and that they were aggravated that I was even there.
Anyone else have any weird or awkward job interview stories?

I'd never work for a firm like that, even if they were just testing you.

Would rather jump off one than read that OP

Man I didn’t think the interview process for the new Waffle House on Burbank was that in depth.

Yea I felt that it could have just been a test, but what the frick kind of dumbass test is that? That's supposed to get someone interested in actually accepting a position there?

What kind of position were you interviewing for?

When I was graduating from college I walked into an interview with a major oil company.
Looked at the guy reading my resume and my name. He asked if I had an older brother named ........ I said yes I do. He looked up and said your brother was sleeping with my fiancée. I looked up and said I guess this interview is over..... he quietly looked up and gave me the stink eye .... I stood up walked out and asked... did you marry her.... kept walking so never caught the answer.

I have asked potential employees the following:
“If you were a piece of fruit What type of fruit would you be?”
Lol. Epic responses.

Interviewed for a job a few states away via skype. Halfway though their interview they lost connection. Had to chill for 20 minutes at my desk until they reconnected

Rally a strange interview. No secretary and the guy wanted to film my responses. Didn’t feel comfortable about the hole situation, so I left.

I actually read that wall of text. And I agree with you, that’s an awkward interview for sure.
I can’t think of one that tops that, though I’ve interviewed for a number of positions and thought “that was odd.”
I will say, the most unorthodox hiring process was for my current job. I actually went in to meet with a couple people asking advice on how to break into the industry. The founder liked me (his words were “I’m intrigued by you”) and I was told while they weren’t hiring, they were considering adding on and always looking for talent.
From there I met individually with every, single, member of the firm. It took 4-5 months. After each one, I was told that was the last. And even after all of it, they said “man you’d be a great fit over at BLANK and I have great connections to get you in there.” But at the end of the day they made the offer and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Strangest one I had I came out of it thinking the interviewer hated me (because I wasn't crazy about him either) and then next day they call and tell me I'm hired. As I expected, me and the interviewer ended up jousting with each other the whole time but after a year or so he got another job and moved on. That whole company was weird as frick. I was glad to get out of there eventually.

I have had a similar experience. They were hq’ed in Hartford, CT. (Not exactly around the corner from Mobile, AL.) They flew me up there, picked me up in their Sprinter, put me up at a nice hotel, brought me in the next am... everyone was super nice and we got along great, and thought that I was looking at my next office... until I met their #2 guy.
He was a dick and said that he hated the company that I was currently with and thought that I would tarnish their image. I literally said, “Listen, I was not looking for a job. You guys asked me to meet with you and flew me up here.” I was SO close to walking out of that guys office.
Then met with the #1 guy. That went great. Got back home, received my offer, and promptly told them no thanks.
Funny twist is that that company was just acquired by my old company that the dickhead said he hated.

Funny enough the one question on of the "others" asked me was "I know this is unprofessional, but are you interviewing with any other firms?"
Which I was happy he asked because I'm interviewing with a firm 4 times their size with a much more established reputation in the industry next week. So I got to drop that one on em.

quote:Got back home from being out of state for Dad's 1st cardioversion 5 months after graduation. It was 5 months later as that 1st didn't take so they did a 2nd in 3 weeks which did not take so they did a 2 lead pacemaker in 4 weeks which did not resolve his condition so they did a 3 lead pacer but the 3rd lead would not fit in his carotid so they did a thoracotomy to stick the 3rd between some ribs over to his heart.
What's the strangest job interview you've ever had?
So I get home and check answering machine. 3 days earlier the hiring manager at a hospital left a message to call so I could put in an application and go to work. So I called and started work that week once I actually applied. In essence my interview was a message to apply left on an old school answering machine.

My first real job was digging graves.
Right after the interview. Was hired on the spot and on the first day, guy I was working for talked about how easy it would be to off a person and bury them under someone else's casket.
