Our local Ace Hardware has a box by the door where you can put old flags. I think they give them to someone to dispose of, or recycle, I can't remember.

The stars should be cut away from the bars and then the whole thing should be burned in a fire with the utmost respect.

give it to the Boy Scouts or the nearest American Legion, they dispose of them. You are supposed to burn it, but they make a ceremony out of it, and I would be afraid some random image of me burning a flag would pop up years later.
