Nothing different will happen if you do it either way.
Unless there's a patriotic American nearby. In that case you may get your arse beat for not "doing the right thing".
Boy.

Flag Disposal: 1. The flag should be folded in its customary manner. 2. It is important that the fire be fairly large and of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag. 3. Place the flag on the fire. 4. The individual(s) can come to attention, salute the flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and have a brief period of silent reflection. 5. After the flag is completely consumed, the fire should then be safely extinguished and the ashes buried. 6. Please make sure you are conforming to local/state fire codes or ordinances. Note: Please contact your local VFW Post if you'd like assistance or more information on proper flag disposal.

I bet all the posters here who talk about respecting the flag or else have no problem making disrespectful comments about the President of the USA.
and he has no problem disrespecting the men that died for this country.

It's really creepy how nationalistic some in this country are. Nationalism is a subset of collectivism and frick collectivism.
"The Flag" is a government symbol meant to instill fealty to the State in individuals. Same as the "Pledge".
frick nationalism.

I'm always suspicious of people who are anti patriotism. It seems pretty Jewy if you ask me.

lot of reference to boy scouts. How many of you guys stayed active all the way through high school or Eagle scout or whatever it is?
Most folks I know kind of phased out of it like taking Karate or playing soccer (at the age where u get orange slices).
Boy scouts teaches you alot, but in my experience very few stick with it all the way through HS.

I honestly pity today's generation for their ignorance. They're probably the most "educated" generation this country has ever produced. But sadly all this education has done is fooled them into being blind to their own ignorance and given them a false view of the world. What a waste.

Just trying too hard with a strawman as usual in these threads
Posted on 10/26/15 at 4:07 pm to Lou Pai
Fair enough. I still say it's apt.
Posted on 10/26/15 at 4:11 pm to LucasP
Correct, because being patriotic is akin to being a Nazi

Not all nationalists are Nazis but every Nazi was a nationalist. If you don't think there's an inherent danger in blind and reverent nationalism then I don't know what to tell you.
Posted on 10/26/15 at 4:13 pm to Lou Pai
Nice edit. So you admit that there's only a difference of magnitude between patriotism and nationalism?

Once you start posting serious replies it gets harder to go back to pure snark. Be careful.
