People buy what they like and enjoy. I have a bit of a watch problem but it is a hobby for me.

This is most of my accumulation

I can completely understand the ‘point’ of buying a Rolex.. it’s because life is short, and if you can afford nice things, then it’s no more or less valid to splurge on a watch than anything else.. i will never understand , though, the point of financing a watch; i didnt even realize that was a thing til i saw some pop up ads to that effect recently.. i pretty much dont like financing things in general, unless it’s a house, an education, or (maybe) a vehicle.

All that said, if i were gonna splurge on a watch, it wouldnt be a Rolex, it’d be an Omega.. i feel like Rolexes are too common, and are a little too much of a status symbol, though they are quality watches.. Omegas have a cool history, are well-made, and while expensive, are typically less than half the price of most Rolexes.. the Speedy Pro i’m eyeing runs about $4-$5k.. not sure if i’ll pull the trigger, because while i can afford it, i’ve never spent more than about $500 on a watch.

For those not familiar, each of the watches in this picture probably costs as much or more than the car you’re driving.. i’d say the entire collection could probably buy a nice house on the LSU Lakes.

Obtuse, that is a great collection.

What goes in the empty bay between the Kermit and the SD? Is that a z-blue or black Milgauss?

I knew you would be here. Lol

Like: to extent. I see a ton that put little thought. Just get a standard.

Nice collection. I’m nowhere near. I buy things that I like, move me, etc.

Ikepod Manatee. I love Newson as a designer. And I just bought on the Kickstarter relaunch. Mostly to revive the brand.

Hermes cape cod double tour and harnais.

Ressence. I love it.

Often I wear my Qlocktwo just to illustrate the absurdity of wearing a watch on this day and age.

There are always the Omega guys with your perspective. ;)

I don’t own a Rolex. 2 brothers so not counting on my dads.

Don’t have a panny. Kind of want.

There are so many great manufacturers.

Thanks, buying and selling for 30 years to build it.

It is actually a Hulk, the green dial doesn't show well in a large picture like that.

It is nothing special, just a 16570 GMT Polar, they are easy to find on the secondary market.

Because you get what you pay for.

Some people drive a Ferrari and some people drive a Kia. It's whatever is important to you.

I don't drive a Ferrari, but I love my Submariner.

The two spaces with cushions are for my two remaining 6263/6265 Daytonas, I have never put either of them on the internet. The one with the missing cushion is one of 8 orange ceramic bezel platinum Planet Oceans, it was in for warranty service at the time. The Milgauss is a Z-Blue.

Got mine when our two girls graduated college (one LSU) and were on their way with life, had always wanted one but couldn't justify the expense.

The Aucion Hart sales dude said that's actually a pretty common reason they're bought, an inflection point in ones life.

A simple Oyster Perpetual Date Just, not one of the expensive ones.

It's going to my oldest grandson when I go.
