To most lefties you know: Because they're lemmings who think celebration of a mental health issue that disproportionately leads to suicide and accompanies other serious mental health issues about 99% of the time constitutes being "nice".

To actual lefties pulling the strings: Because the male-female dichotomy is at the core of a lot of things, not the least of which is the nuclear family. Eliminating gender roles is yet another step at dismantling the societal structures (the family, the concept of merit, science) that prevent them from imposing their beliefs on others.
