What's the overreaction to blind links about?

Never quite have understood this.

You know you can name them anything you want right?

It's annoying to have a link and nothing to tell us what the link is.

I work for the Church of Scientology. How am I supposed to stay “ clear” if I am opening blind links at work?

It is lazy.

Even worse is starting a thread about a news story, leaving a blind link, AND not quoting anything from the story.

That's not the point.

You can simply name your link as "Link" if you full describe what you are linking to or hopefully give a quote or two about what you are wanting people to look at.

The best way to catch fish is with bait. Blind links are just a shiny hook.

I get it if all they post is the link, but if there is enough context between the title and post I think it's a bit silly to thrash someone over not naming the link, lol

Yeah, so do that correctly and save people a click.

I swear some of you have no clue how to build a thread.

Readers using Chrome (and I'm sure it applies to Firefox, too) can right click the link and choose "inspect". It'll show the URL in the inspection page.

But people shouldn't have to do that. And if you label something as one thing but it takes me somewhere totally different, I'd probably RA the poster. That's a messed up thing to do with all the malware out on the web.

There are some dumb, barely literate people on this website, so you have stuff like

Subject: Well well well look whose at it again LOL

I told yall this was happening but screw me right!

LINK

And the end result is that everyone has to guess whatever some moron is talking about. And the OP being a moron makes one more wary of clicking a blind link
