Even when I tried to make some money off of crypto, it took me constantly checking it. Selling and buying to make a few hundred.

I'd almost say my poker buddies. But that takes time and smashed computers or just times they were broke and had to work to go again.

When I first started doing electrical construction in San Jose, my first job was for OEG at Intel. I spent the first 5 months there basically all in the clean room.

We had to have everything more than what we could do with basic hand tools fabricated outside. And we had to get permits for everything. It's the original Intel campus after they left Mountain View, and it's where they make all the mask that they make their chips from for the whole world. Just insanely high tech shite you're working around, in an industrial setting. I cannot count the amount of time we spent doing absolutely nothing, dressed up in one of those monkey suits. There was absolutely nothing to do many times, but we had to stay in there. Intel would rather pay you to sit than go in and out their clean room.

I made $87k in 7 months on that job. Nothing spectacular, but I did absolutely nothing for at least half that time. Laying on a scaffold waiting for material, permission, or information.

Was playing golf, a friend of a friend calls, says he buying a house in a new construction cookie cutter neighborhood. He went without an agent to try to save $ but they would not negotiate off the sales prices , gives sales agent my name as his realtor, says I should be expecting a commission check from the builder. About 30 minutes later all docs in my inbox. Never lifted a finger 3 months later got a check for 13k.

I was leaving a employer and giving them 2 weeks notice. They asked and I informed them that I was going to a new start up company that was going to be their competitor. They called me me back and to inform that I could resign and they were going to pay me a months salary to stay at home. I called my new company and told the Vp the story he lol’d. “He stated I have two choices. And you know what they are.” So instead of a two week notice I started with the new company the next day. The old company still sent me 1 months salary and called my house every day or so to see if I was always st home.
It’s been 18 years - best decision I’ve ever made as far as a career.

I do consulting work for the city of Baton rouge. It's pretty easy, they keep asking for studies of the same project so I just keep recycling my old studies for them. Basically permanent cash cow because they never actually commit to a project.

Some of my high school buddies started an oilfield rental equipment company and needed cash.

I reluctantly got in after they bugged me for a year.

From 2016 - 2018 I received a monthly check in the mail averaging $15,000.

Got my investment back plus a bunch but it's slowly tapering off now and they are looking to sale.

I was high on the hog for a while.

Easily fantasy football and football pools, right off the top of my head.

Several years in a row I had an ROI of a few thousand dollars a year. Always nice because those payouts came around Christmas, and that usually covered it for my kids.

A few years I went on a bad streak and would only net about 500, but back on the saddle again after last year. Cleared nearly 4k.

So they deposited it in your account or gave you a check?

Before answering, I consulted with a tree service, who gave me a quote. I then texted the owner back saying I could take care of it...for several hundred dollars more that the tree service's quote. The property owner accepted the price and I made a decent payday without lifting a finger.

So you charged your client several hundred dollars to make a phone call? Does anyone else think this is unethical?

I got half deposited into my account up front, the rest paid out in three annual installments.

I found a $20 bill in JCPenney in Belle Promenade mall. I think we used it to see the Land Before Time later that day.

What a great day.

I got $20K after suing the clown that drove straight through a curve and hit me (almost) head on.

The only "work" involved was me crawling up the stairs in my condo on my hands and knees for six weeks while all the broken bones in my foot recovered.

I got paid 30k as part as my severance package when I lost my job 5 years ago. My started my current job immediately afterwards so all that money went into savings.

$25,000 Roulette wheel in Vegas putting $5k into it at a hardware dealer convention. Now after a few drinks I left the table and lost it playing blackjack.

Did a tv commercial in my early 20s.. got paid like $100 for 2 hours, whatever.. but then the commercial went national, became a SAG production and i started getting what they call ‘mailbox money’.. residual checks started showing up in my mailbox for a few hundred dollars every couple months or so.. the commercial ran for a few years, and i wound up making $25k or $30k for 2 hours of work when all was said and done... very nice while it lasted.
