What's The Most Money You Ever Lost (misplaced)?

Have you ever lost a large amount of money.. As in, you put it somewhere and couldn't find it. I just had $200 in cash uncounted for, but I finally found it.
Last Christmas my mom went take out several $100 bills. She gives everyone (her kids, spouses and grandkids each $100) and couldn't find where she put it and had to go back to the bank to get cash so she could give it to everyone. She never found it. So there is about $1k in cash somewhere in her house.

I lost $500 in college once. Really hurt because I was pulling 35-40 hours a week while taking 18 hours at the time

I wasn't saying that was a large amount.
I asked if anyone ever lost large amount then said what I lost.. That was the most I could think of.
