The evolution of terrific to not aligning correctly with the meaning of terror/terrified the way horror/horrific/horrified align really bothers me for some reason. I know it isn't a misuse of the word according to its modern definition, but it bothers me that the word was allowed to evolve into meaning the opposite of what it should be.

It's being used as emphasis, and, thus, figurative.

I think most of us have the brain power to handle that slight shift.

Though this is a thread based on the misconception that words and language do not change and evolve.

not used often - but when it is used it is almost always used incorrectly

"comprise"

His group is comprised of agents from several departments = wrong.

His group comprises agents from several departments = correct.
