Have virtually the exact same bat, though with a criss-cross tape pattern on the handle 5 feet from me in my office!

The 'braided' grip pattern was popular back then we all did that too.

Athletic tape and pine tar was my jam

Athletic tape is cheap, readily available, could change it as often as you like easily, and you could make it as thin or thick as you want, especially under your bottom hand.

A bat can only be so hot.... otherwise it wouldn't be stamped. Get whatever your 8U kid thinks looks good. Save that dough for some nice leather.

The z-core from 1998 is the hottest bat I ever owned. Cracked within a year, then spider webbed it on some golf balls

That bat is taped too high IMO. I put the athletic tape to where it was about 1/4 inch higher than my top hand. All about weight savings baw

I had done it because it looked cool!

At 33/30 I could bring it around no problems.

This was actually from the late 80's.

We had one like that that we corked for practice with either tennis or racquet balls. Could hit moon shots with it

Get your baseball player some real cleats, those sloppy looking baseball cleats are the worst. You can tell they don’t have to do anything athletic out there with those skids on their feet. They look like lineman shoes two sizes too big.
