Contractor quoted a friend $14.75/ sq ft to re insulate, hang and float sheet rock, install 2 exterior doors/ frames, 8 interior doors/ frames, 7 windows and frames,, install baseboards and shoe moldings. House is less than 1500 sq. ft.

I saw several posts on stripping houses, didn't see much in repairs.

TIA

Does that include finishing, painting, and material?

Materials included. Already stripped at 4 ft. includes floating, but, does not include painting.

Not sure if this will help you, but I know the going rate for a gut job/replacement was like 10-12k last I heard from my family.

You can't lump all those items into a price per sq ft. and determine if it's a reasonable cost.

That's a bullshite method to quote. He should provide a breakdown for each service.

Ask for a breakdown showing material costs and labor. Do the same thing with 3 other contractors.

This. Doesn't make sense at all to quote like this.

Whatever happened to the guy who's aunt or whoever got the like $150 sq ft quote?

Had 1 contractor quote me $31-$38 per square foot including materials depending on what type of flooring and cabinets I went with. I think that's just his way of estimating quickly without providing a detailed breakdown
