Sort of a spin-off here, but one I’ve been meaning to post for a while now. What actually inspired this thread was a conversation I recently had how this decade seems no different than the last other than changes in technology. But other than that, it’s as if time has stood still for the past 19 years.

Before the turn of the century, each decade had its own identity. Everything from music, styles, and general mood of the pubic was distinctly different from the decades before or after it. We can see or hear things from every decade from the past at least 7 or 8 decades and immediately know which decade it’s from because they each had their own identity.

But this decade and the last decade before it seem to have nothing to differentiate between the two and in fact other than politics and technology advancements, have no identity of their own at all.

What happened?

The internet homogenized culture. We no longer have distinct cultures marinating in their own stews. At least not to the extent that we used to.

Sonic used to be just a place where you went to get tater tots or a hot dog. Now it has evolved into the epicenter of conflict resolution.

Not necessarily. The late 80s bled into the 90s til about 94. So did the 70s to 80s and late 90s to early 2000s.

Just watch old music videos and newscasts you will see.

The world ended on 9/11. Since then we’ve been in some kind of matrix style illusion.
