What's the deal with with this "Not for Federal Identification" Louisiana license??

Just went to renew my driver's license and they printed me a new one with "NOT FOR FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION" stamped on it. Then they tell me that apparently after 2020 I'm going to have to have a passport to board any domestic flight with this? What in the actual frick??

I've had the "Real ID" for two years already. It's been known for a long time that this was coming.

Now they have a REAL license, which costs more, and the traditional license that you can’t really use for ID anymore because they said so.

But I have a Real ID. I don't carry it everytime, but in the instances where I might need it...rather have it than have to get someone to FedEx it to me.
