We sold my wife’s pilot a few months ago through them.
Was about as easy as it could be.

Didn’t have to deal with marketplace or get beat down as a trade in.
Would definitely do it again

Dealers don’t get any better rates. They usually just make it up on fees.

No, they get paid points on the financing. They can drop those points to close a deal (sometimes)

had to go to our 3rd party DMV to remove one of the names. After that, it was easy.

So after all of the hard parts, it was easy? LOL

don’t consider paying more a “pro” at all. If I can save $800-$1000 by spending half a day at a dealer I’ll do it.

Some cars more, some cars less. Like anything, shop.

Pros: a lot of availability and grows your pool. If you get free shipping the 7 day test drive is solid

Cons: not a nearby onsite person in most markets. 3rd party financing with returns is probably a pain. If you pay to ship a car and it sucks then you lost cash

YMMV: as with anything you have to shop and make educated choices. My family has done 4 cars via online methods, including carvana. Of the 4 1 had delivery delays that were inconvenient but not terrible and 1 had a couple ticky tack things (wasn’t detailed well and missing back floor mats- immediately credited a few hundred to purchase new mats and detail)

I think as long as you are reasonable in expectations and do your leg work its not better or worse, just an added option which is always nice to have in the marketplaces

In sept of 2018 I bought a 2012 F350 15 pass van with 18,000 miles on the clock, it was pretty much brand new. My area did not have a pickup location so I had them deliver it to my office and It came on a big hauler with some other cars on it. At some point in transport it got a few scratches and nicks in the paint down to bare metal. I had issue with it because on the website it has good pics and points out any imperfections...these would have been on that list. After a little effort on my end getting body shop quotes and dealing with carvana I was able to get it repainted and fixed up. Other than that I had a pretty solid experience overall. Didn't have to go to a stealership. I didnt have a trade in so paid 20k + TTL cash for it, so no dealing with the finance rates and I wanted that style van and I wanted low miles.

Bought and sold with them about a month ago. My wife was buying the new one in her name, but the title of the trade in was in my name. Carvana can't do that in Georgia for whatever bullshite reason, but they don't tell you that until the deal is done. So the new car delivery was delayed and had to start the whole process over, and to avoid additional days of us sharing a single vehicle which was a real pain in the arse, we chose to drive to their hub in Atlanta to pick it up, even though you still pay the delivery fee to get the vehicle from wherever it was in the world to their ATL hub. I sold the trade in to them as a plain old sale, gave the money to my wife to add to the down payment.

Had that little hiccup with the trade in not happened, it would have been an overall good experience.

Regarding pricing, looking at what local dealers had vs Carvana, Carvana was on average about $2k cheaper. Maybe I could have gone to a dealer and talked them down but then I'd have to spend a day in a dealership talking them down.

Oh one other weird thing- for the registration, they pulled some address from the credit report that we haven't lived in since 2008, so that had to get fixed. But they did fix it and we got our registration and tag correctly and on time. Keep an eye out for that shite, they are using some kind of automation instead of humans to fill out the paperwork.

Bought a vehicle through Carvana in May of 2022. Was seamless all the way through. I paid off the 5 year note in less than 2 years and even that was straight forward and easy. Received the title in a couple of weeks. Would do again

I know a few people who have bought from them and said it was easy .

They will bring the car to your house and I think you have 3 days to return it if not happy.

What a genius business model.

I really don't understand people who think the car buying process is difficult.

I get why people would not want to do it like I do. I'll spend a week emailing dealerships then spend my Saturday talking down the price and up the trade in when they inevitably tell me the price they quoted online didn't include xyz and how the trade in has to be lower. I get that's annoying. However, I'm stubborn and at least in the past they eventually cave on most of it.

But if you are willing to pay more to not have to deal with that, then you can buy ANYWHERE. A dealership would love for you to come in, pay sticker, and walk out.

True confession: I have never paid anything but MSRP for any of the 20+ new cars I have bought in the last 30+ years.

How do you deal with the warranty stuff with them?

This is what you tell them. I'm here just for the car, I dont want any of the other shite you are selling.

If you want an extended warranty so bad go buy one from a large dealer for much cheaper and dont finance that shite.

It really depends, I got offered the same from the dealer as carvana and it lowers your tax base on the vehicle if you trade in.
