When my sister and I were both in college our dad had these giant wrapped boxes he told us (over a couple weeks that we were home) were like some massive closet organization system for my mom. They were sitting out for everyone to see.

So on Christmas morning, we've all exchanged tons of gifts and whatnot, and we help him drag these things in for my mom. Then he pulls the old "wait, this isn't right, those aren't for her" and pushes one to each of us, and they're big flat screen tvs (big deal back then) for me and my sister.

Not the best gift I've ever gotten, but I love some well-planned trickery.

A Big Green Egg. And when I was a kid, an Evel Knievel stunt cycle.

I’ve completely given up on receiving gifts in general. Anything I really want I go get it myself.

I've had some good gifts, some useful. Like my dad buying me a nice arse flashlight and a thing to jump my car. Well what do you know, hurricane hits and you need that shite.

This isn't the best, but one that meant a lot. I dated this girl from out of the country. For my birthday she bought me this history of LSU vault. It's amazing, I have it displayed on my book shelf now.

My girlfriend's that attended LSU and knew how obsessed I was with LSU football never ever gave me anything like that.

Here is a girl from fricking Kosavo, that speaks broken English, knows nothing about American Football, but actually gave me something I would cherish.

It blew my mind. Should have married that girl.

Snowboard. It was completely unexpected and I had a snowboard trip like a week away, I had been planning on renting one.

My beagle pup when I was 10. He was my best friend growing up and we were inseparable until his untimely death some 7 years later.

A Daisy BB gun when I was 5 years old. I carried it everywhere and it started a lifelong love of the outdoors.
