A few years ago I had to correct a full grown man who thought pickles grew on trees. My kids still get a laugh out of that story.

Who the Beatles were. I'm really not shitting you that an adult female from this country had not heard of Paul McCartney.

People are shocked when I tell them that on a box of foil or Saran Wrap there are marks on each end that you push in that hold the roll in the box

My friend introduced me to a girl he was dating several months back who didn't know about the Beatles, the Rat Pack, and a bunch of other assorted general knowledge pop culture information. She apparently grew up really sheltered in a very religious Coptic family. Pretty strange.

Also, for 3-digit interstates, those that start with an odd number (I-310) are spurs while those starting with even numbers (I-610) are bypasses.

Arright, so in the vein of growing/living things... I dated a guy in high school who was incredibly book smart-- straight As his whole school career, perfect ACT score, only about 50 or fewer points off a perfect SAT. Scholarships lined up for days.

One Christmas, his family takes his grandmother a poinsettia plant before the holiday. She comments on how pretty it is, but just wishes she knew how to keep one alive, since they always seem to die after the holidays (this was pre-google).

The guy tells his grandmother, "You should ask Mom what she does. She has one that she keeps in the attic all during the year and it always looks fine when she takes it out at Christmas." In full seriousness.

Thereafter, his friends and family would constantly rib him that "they must not have had a section about live plants on the ACT!"

This guy's a doctor now.

I taught the the "gas side of the car" many times to many smart people.

Inflammable and flammable mean the exact same thing.

An sorry fellas (this is female related and gross). I was shocked to learn that grown women thought that they had to remove a tampon to pee. They thought the "flow" came from the same place as their urine. Seriously, what anatomy class did YOU attend in high school?

I would think this would have more to do with not wanting to get some type of infection more than anything, no?

That's not always true. I've been in a couple cars that it was wrong.

You can also tell which side the gas is located if you are standing behind the vehicle by noting which side the exhaust pipe is on. It will always be on the opposite side. Not including duel exhaust cars. Learned this from Car Talk guys.

I've had to explain to many women that female saliva breaks down semen, thus, they can't get pregnant if they give a guy a blowjob before they have sex.

I had to explain to an old girlfriend once that the seeds on a sesame seed bun, if planted, would grow a sesame seed bun plant.

I wonder if she still thinks that.

Had to call in to pre-authorize a prescription for a patient. The call center gal who answered asked for the patient's DOB. I told her it was February 29, 19-something. She paused, asked me to repeat the day, then got irritated and told me there are only 28 days in February...

She now understands the concept of a leap year...
