What's it like spectating at the WSoP Main Event?

Works out I'm going to be in Vegas for 2 days next week. I plan on stopping by the WSoP on Friday the 15th. Website says this for the schedule:
Day 4: July 15, 2016
11:00 a.m. start
Play 5 levels
20-min breaks every level
90-min break after 3
rd level (˜ 5:40 p.m.)
So are there a bunch of spectators? At this point in the tourney can you just walk around all of the talbes? Is it pretty boring at live speed? How many will be left at that level? Any other pointers? TIA.

One little "o" can make all the difference.

can't imagine it'd be fun. you can't see the cards so there is no drama outside of who is going to win a hand.

I loved poker back in the day. I don't follow it at all now but if I'm bored and it's on any of the sports channels, it'll suck me in sometimes. That being said, the idea of watching it live sounds terrible. It's played sooooo slowly.
That being said, I didn't even realize it was going on, and I'll be in Vegas that same weekend as well, next weekend.
My question is, is it noticeably busier during the WSOP Main Event? I'm hoping I'm not going during some crazy time, I'm too old for that.

Going to Vegas and watch people play poker from a rail. Sounds like a huge waste of time

I would have to imagine that it is boring as frick to be a spectator.
It's not like you can see the cards. You'd literally be watching a group of people sitting at a table with a tense/exciting moment every 30 mins or so. Even then, it's not like you'd know who has what cards.

That's what I was afraid of. Looks like I'll just run over there for a bit to check it of the bucket list.

I went a few years ago and it was fun to watch the different games that were going on. But just for the Main Event it may not be that fun.
Some of the pros were signing and taking pics with fans. It was also interesting to watch a pro in person, their expresssions and such.
I saw Phil Ivey the day I went.

You should dress up like a clown and hold up a "John 3:16" sign. Maybe you could get on TV when they are panning around the poker room.

You will be in a town that is known as "Sin City."
Strippers, Booze, Gambling... please don't waste your time watching people play poker.

dude, to want to sit and watch people play cards is disturbing.
Seriously, if you want to ride the poker players nuts, just wait till its over, or find one of the high stakes poker rooms.
yikes

about as boring as someone going to watch a golf tournament.

I watched the day before the final table back in '03 when it was at Binions so it's probably very different now. It was upstairs and they had a set of bleachers set up for the 50-60 people who were watching. No, you could not walk around the tables.
Be aware that the TV coverage tries to get the exciting hands, in reality most of the time not much happens. Everyone folds to the blinds, there *might* be a flop, someone raises and it's done. Try to find a table where someone is short stacked, he'll be the one who has to "do something" before he's blinded off.

If you can't spot the sucker in your first half hour at the table, then YOU are the sucker...
