I don’t quite remember when the intersection of Florida Street and Airline Highway was a traffic circle
Before my time. I remember the airport being on Goodwood.
I remember parking spots on the street at LSU. No passes needed, no Gestapo present.
I remember when Burbank opened south of LSU.

I remember when the stick BR was named for was not yet painted red.
It was a bitch digging the hole to put it in the ground.

It was a big strip mall before it was enclosed. The most awesome place on the planet was at the end by FL blvd. It was called Western Auto. It had everything for cars and sporting goods.

What was the name of that cave entrance bar next to DH Holmes?
I don't remember, but I remember that black stucco "cave wall" entrance. I was too young to go in but I wanted to see what it looked like.

What department store was down by the bus station and Entergy downtown? Was it a DH Homes? I went there once to Christmas shop around the early 90s. Was it a mall as well or just one big store?

Nah, it was a Goudchaux or Maison Blanche or DH Holmes.
Can’t believe I can’t remember which.

There was a teen club called Cajun Hall back in the day. Mid 90s maybe.

I'm not that old but I remember when Florida at Airline was the epicenter of BR commerce.
I remember that.
I always thought it was odd that there was so much retail on Florida before they really developed the larger parcels along I-12. Hammond Aire is still kicking today while Cortana sits closed and likely in the process of being redeveloped into non-retail use.
I know it’s a different format, but IMO being closer to I-12 or I-10 makes more sense than being close to Florida Blvd. They really just wanted something newer and nicer than Bonne Marche just a few miles down the road.
