Did consumer tastes in the U.S. just fall away after the 70's?
Like I said earlier. Karen Ann Quinlan. She mixed quaaludes and alcohol and was the first highly publicized case of someone going into a drug and alcohol induced coma and never coming out of it.
Karen Ann Quinlin
It was literally the first "Right to Die" case in the US.

was just a barbiturates, right? They still make xanex, they just call it something different every few years. In the nineties it was Valium. Probably has something to do with patents.
Lol nah

I think Valium is what all the housewives started popping in the 60s, a.k.a. "mother's little helper."

Ludes and beer were a great time if you had witnesses to tell you about it the next day.

Valium was like candy. It was so easy to get. You can still get muscle relaxers in a Mexican pharmacy over the counter. You can also get a lot of other things although even they have cracked down some.

No, that was some sort of speed. If mothers took Valium everyday, all they’d do is sleep and not give a frick about anything.

Um, yeah. Fell down and almost busted my teeth out one time.
I, in fact, did fall and bust out two front teeth one time. We had been fishing and drinking all day in Cocadrie. On the way home, I popped a couple of Xanax. The last thing I remember is stopping at some shitty strip club and falling off a bar stool at one point. Then, I woke up in my car at my parents house with two missing teeth and a huge scrape on my forehead.

Hugh Heffner kept them in candy dishes at the Playboy Mansion. Called them great "leg openers".

Barbituates and amphetamines. Doctors would prescribe them to housewives in the 70s as diet drugs.

I found it funny as kid that Joe Fridays badge number was 714. I wondered if it was international?

Methaquaalone is long gone. Propoxyphene is gone also. Lots of new stuff to take their places.
