My parents supported me until I graduated professional school at 25. I didnt abuse it though. I appreciated everything they helped me with. Now that I’m on my own and able to support myself I love being able to pay for/ buy nice things for them.

My bosses daughter still lives at home. She is 30. She also carpools everyday to work some minimum wage job at a museum.
This is what a history degree gets you if you will not be a teacher/professor.

How do y'all feel about someone who doesn't take any money but gets a large inheritance in there 40's and pretty much stop working

I feel they are an idiot. You’d have to have a large enough sum in principal to live off the interest.

Girlfriends cousin is 28 and has never really had a real job. She's continually found reasons to put off the growing up/responsibility part of life....changing majors to extend college, wanting to get her masters, wanting to be a stylist, then an event planner, then nonprofit mgmt. Her parents own their own company in west Michigan and do very well for themselves and they've essentially created this mindset for her.
This summer she did some 6 month job where she drove people visiting the US around to national parks and stuff. She was working with people who are undergrads. So when that wrapped up, instead of using the money she'd saved up to get an apartment and find a job, she decided to travel to Europe and Asia...so she's been doing that for going on two months now. She'll come home for the holidays with no money, her parents will tell her to get a job, she'll say she has no money so what is she supposed to do, and they'll bail her out and pay for her shite like they always do. Rinse and repeat.
The not so funny part is that you'd think she struck the lottery, but she's really unhappy and my GF calls her a "lost soul". She has no real purpose in life while all her friends and family have a path that they're on.

I have taken zero jobs for pay since retiring from the military 5 years ago. I'm 47 now. I'll go hang out at my dad's auto repair shop or whatever , helping him out, but I'm not getting a 9-5.

I'm 29 with my own successful small business. I just moved back in temporarily while I'm waiting for my final military packet to be approved. With housing costs it doesn't make sense financially for me to have a year lease/own a home when I will likely be in training for ~6 months. Plus it keeps my overhead even lower, which means I can use more income from my small business to chip away at my loans. I also work so much that I'm rarely home.
I wonder why some people care so much about others. Even if someone is in their 20s, still live at home, and aren't "productive members of society," they're still not out on the streets selling drugs, killing people, and committing crimes. Also, it's common in most cultures for children to live at home well into their 20s.
