Say your driving in New Orleans. You stop at a light. A car comes along and blocks you in and an armed person approaches from behind.

What is your strategy?

Now I know a lot of you yahoos will say, “blow him away.” But specifically, what’s the plan for that situation.

Scenario 1. It’s just you. No wife and kids. You can toss them the keys and walk away.

Scenario 2. Wife and kids. You’ve got a pistol readily available.

Scenario 3. Same as 2 except there are crowds around and risk of shooting a bystander (or drawing gunfire that injures one).

Again, I know I will get a lot of macho bullshite and a lot of NOLA hate. But there are a lot of LE and otherwise smart people here. What is your strategy if you drive in NOLA?

Scenario 4: Move out of New Orleans and don’t have to worry about getting carjacked.

Call me whatever you want, but I’m giving them the keys in any situation above. If they’ve already drawn on me, they’re getting my car and my family and I are walking away with our lives.

Are there stand your ground type laws in LA?

If gun laws aren’t strongly in favor of defending yourself facing down a hostile DA in Orleans Parish doesn’t sound like much fun.

I’m giving the keys and laughing when they try to operate the manual transmission. Then hoping they don’t kill me for the inconvenience.

Material possessions can be replaced

Tell em to take it, it's not worth getting shot by some 15 yr old idiot

Same. This is why carjackings are effective. Either
A) your car is worth something and you carry comp coverage
B) they don’t want your busted arse car

Most humans are sane enough to walk away.

I think I would just stare straight ahead and ignore them like I do the homeless

Problem is, giving the keys…there’s still no guarantee you don’t get shot…These are animals…There’s but one way to deal with an animal…Put them down. I never rely upon the integrity of a thug, to protect me or my family. They don’t honor deals…Somebodies going to get shot, maybe them or maybe me…You just can’t get caught with your pants down.

I understand giving the keys doesn’t guarantee my life, but it’s by far the safest option if they’ve drawn on me.

I would get out and wait until they realized they could not drive a manual transmission in a truck.

The safest option is to live in places where this doesn't occur with any frequency.

I've always considered I would get out, give them the car and try and kill them once I'm out the car and they let their guard down.
If they already have a gun on you. Even if you're the fastest draw in the west, they are going to get a shot on you before you get one on them.
But on the flip side not fighting back has made this problem much worse.
I wish a few of these punks would get killed in the act each week. Then car jacking would drop.
