You act like tourists have never been raped and or murdered in New Orleans. This very shooting happened on THE tourist street of the city, for what it's worth

Dude plenty of white tourists get shot I know a girl who both times visiting from Atlanta her only times in New Orleans was hit by a stray bullet once just a graze another more serious. Both times it was in the French quarter

FYI tons of white tourists have been straight abducted from hotels and murdered/raped in cancun and other predominately tourist areas

Stop acting like it hasn't happened, it does but it's considered normal in new Orleans sadly

That's a horrendous idea.

I'm on the fence about it. I'm not a big fan of taking resources and man power away from other areas since there isn't very much of either to go around. However, the residents and business owners have already said they didn't have a problem paying for details, extra cops, etc, if it

bullshite. If you're going to lie, come up with something not so obviously fabricated.

I'd love a link to some of the "tons" of times this has happened.

ETA: Now see you're talking about Mexico for that part.

right, cause only ethnics are getting killed in NOLA.

Man, I'm not pretending to be an insider. I don't know what your local news is showing. I only know what stories make it national or at least out here to Houston. Those stories are black on black crime or bullets getting sprayed in the quarter. That's just not a nightline or dateline NBC material.

The couple Houston guys I recall dying over there or going missing? One poor shitfaced dude fell into the river and drowned while probably blacked out. The other guy was off his meds I believe and was last seen at a CVS with hookers or strippers.

I have no problem with increased police presence, extra details, etc...

I have a huge problem with cut off access to side streets and 2 dedicated gates onto bourbon Street with metal detectors and pat downs.

frick that.

The big problem is that the crime is intertwined with so many other issues with the city.

I think people not from here don't realize how truly corrupt every aspect of local government and business is.

Orleans parish taxes are already outrageous and keep rising. All of the money that could/should go to law enforcement gets handed out to corrupt officials and so called "disadvantaged" local businesses.

That's why there is never enough money, and basically every type of infrastructure in the city is absolute shite.

It will never be fixed short of some apocalyptic event that wipes out a majority of the city.

When people stop grouping these together acting like all races have an equal part in the violence, then maybe we can get somewhere.

Not a lie lunchbox she made the news for it having happened a second time. What do I stand to gain by a lie in this thread? I'm not getting any convictions, cleaning up the city or making it look any better as I want it to be.

Go guzzle cock elsewhere kid

People on here love to point to Chicago as an example of "hey, it could always be worse in New Orleans."

Have you ever even been to Chicago? Sure, the south side is rough and you couldn't pay me to walk around there at night. But most of Chicago (and anywhere that you would want to visit) is very far away from that. The thing that Chicago has going for it over New Orleans is that the crime is very geographically segregated, whereas you could walk by million dollar homes in New Orleans and two blocks over there's a bunch of Section 8 housing.

The parents are not going to help so it's up to the schools to change the mindset.

Allowing this mindset specifically attributes to a large portion of New Orleans' issues. It's more times than not "someone else's problem" to parents. This isn't just area specific to New Orleans either. I've seen numerous interviews where a family member justifies a robbery or act of crime with "how's he supposed to eat? Put clothes on his back?" Etc. How in the hell do you expect schools or teachers to overcome that? The government assistance programs have bred some lifelong members that see no drive in bettering or pushing themselves when taxpayers give it to them for free and they can sit on their arse all day.
