Didn't someone post an article about the shortage of Lithium oxide to meet the capacity? Like, it's a good idea, but the resource isn't there for that kind of mass production of the battery technology needed...

Probably isn't a shortage as much as a lack of demand at the current price. Up the price and supply will come.

France is phasing out Diesel engines in all automobiles by 2040
Posted on 7/7/17 at 9:46 pm to TigersHuskers
Even France who won't sell petrol or diesel cars past 2040 still probably won't be electric dominate. Baring some major tech development oil will still be king for a while. We're not as smart as we think we are as humans.

I remember when solar power dominance was right around the corner in the 80's too.

Oil workers will work at generation power stations, if that happens.
BTW electric cars will not take over in 5 years. There will be more hybrid cars, but electric cars can not travel as far as gasoline cars. Their distance is less during cold months of the year. Good luck supplying batteries for 4 wheel drive crew cab trucks.
As populations increase the demand for oil should remain flat even if more cars are electric. Batteries will need to improve also.

With oil under $50 a barrel it won't happen.
