Do we need to make racial beliefs part of the questioning for potential owners?
I think asking that the owner not embarass the league would be sufficient.

So is that a no?

Listen to the whole tape. Walton and Johnson played it this morning. I think you haven't listened to it. Because what your saying isn't from the recording.

Do you actually not know that there is language in the franchise agreement that every owner signs that requires that they behave in a manner that should not bring discredit upon the league?
Or do you really think they have free reign to behave as they wish as an owner without penalty?
Posted on 4/28/14 at 3:43 pm to Goldrush25
So you do think Irsay should be fired?

The Redskins will be the cause de jour again after all this stuff is over.

same rules apply to the players?
If Kevin Durant went on a rant about white crackers should he be banned from the NBA?

Well for one they aren't going to ban Sterling in all likelyhood. Second, yes, KD should be reprimanded if he said something to that effect.
I would respect someone's opinion if they thought he should be banned though. I would imagine some would be offended by that kind of comment.

He'd probably lose a shite ton of money over it

Is he holding a press conference in this hypothetical, or is some bitch secretly recording him just to post it to TMZ?

What does it matter? As soon as the public finds out about it, his marketability would crumble.

Until he has a good game, then the public forgets. He'd get back just about everything he "lost."
That's why it's dumb to think Sterling should lose his team over some comments he made in private.
Posted on 4/28/14 at 4:39 pm to LNCHBOX
it would take more than one game. But yes, he would be able to regain some of his endorsements

Which were also illegally recorded.

No it wouldn't.
This story will be gone in a week.

Like I said earlier, if the Clippers are so popular, we'll find out exactly how much people really care about this in the coming months (as well as next season). From the sound of things, they want the NBA to do the work for them and oust Sterling so they don't have to adhere to their own supposed principles.

Well its not so simple. They can choose to not support the owner, but by doing that they turn their backs on the team and coaches that need their support.
Its just a crazy situation because the NBA can't really do anything about it and by fans boycotting the team, they are hurting the players and coaches that did nothing wrong. So it'll really be interesting to see how the whole situation shakes out.
