Be offended, I don't care. But all this talk about he's the biggest POS in the world and he should lose his team is ridiculous from people that have zero (or maybe at most infinitesimally small) ties to this man or his organization.

If you're going to be a billionaire bigot (which 100% of them are), don't be dating Hoes. Especially telling them shite that'll get you tied up in bullshite.

Also, everyone will be offended by Clive Bundy again after they replay the edited interview a thousand more times.

How does it affect them?

Bingo! You'd never hear all the "handwringers"
remotely say anything about the above ilk!
The guys a racist...so are many on the left but they will always get a pass!

I prefer to worry about things that actually effect my life, but I suppose we're all different.

I'm sure you're offended by a ton of things that other people don't give two shits about.
No, not really. I can find what people say objectionable, but rarely am I going to take it personally. Again, it's just all about your priorities.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of them have said that different races are inferior to them?

Am I really supposed to believe that it's those 17 people voicing all of this outrage?

As I said earlier, if this were Benson, I'd feel pretty embarrassed if this were my team, and not sure how I'd feel about giving my money to a guy who doesn't want his girlfriend to bring black people to games.

Ever heard of LBJ ? He would have this guy (Sterling) blushing with his views toward minorities.

In his defense I will present one very cool story about LBJ:

LBJ’s Historic Night Out

quote:

Nobody had suggested it. Nobody had demanded it. Nobody had expected it. There were no focus groups convened and no polling data was consulted. Political calculations had nothing to do with it. It was as simple as Lyndon Johnson wanting to celebrate New Year’s Eve with his staff — a staff which included an African-American woman. On the last night of 1963, Lyndon Johnson brought a black friend to what had been a strictly segregated, all-white club because he wanted to, but he also did it because he realized that he was now the most powerful man in the world and it was something that he could do. As LBJ said in other situations, “Well, what the hell is the Presidency for?”

I guess you haven't paid much attention to the NBA lately, but the Clippers have become one of the league's most popular teams.

Then there you go. That's all that needs to happen. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that he's losing corporate sponsorship, and that's how the free market works. When enough people stop buying tickets, merchandise, concessions, etc. and no one watches them on TV, things will shake themselves out.

If none of that happens, then it just proves that nobody really cared that much to begin with.

Why? Do you personally associate with him?

So from now on, should owners of sports teams have to take a polygraph test so we can all know what they think so no one's precious feelings may get hurt again?

How is recognizing that he's a POS ridiculous. Unless you're a racist I would think that fact is axiomatic.

And fans of the team might want an owner that at least hasn't revealed himself to be a racist.

As for him owning a team, the other owners will be his judge on that matter. It's just silly to suggest that no one else can have a strong, valid opinion on the matter simply because they don't know him personally or are employed by him.

I don't think Fidel Castro is a very good person either for different reasons, but he hasn't personally affected me, nor do I know him. Does that make my opinion about him ridiculous?

Well then I guess we'll find out how outraged they truly are. I'm guessing it'll be along the lines of "We shouldn't hold the players accountable for what the owner said". There'll be some good reason why people don't vote with their feet.

Which is exactly why companies are pulling their sponsorships and why the NBA wants to see if they can get rid of him.

Yeah, I support his business and his brand by buying tickets, watching games on TV, and buying merchandise.

Um, thanks for leaving out the second part of my AND statement.

quote:

And fans of the team might want an owner that at least hasn't revealed himself to be a racist.

1) He didn't reveal himself as such.

2) Do we need to make racial beliefs part of the questioning for potential owners?

quote:

I never said you can't have a strong opinion. But I can assure those with valid strong opinions are far outnumbered by the phonies.

It seems par for the course.
