Seriously, they were very much like Andrew Clark in The Breakfast Club. A lot of them were on the football team too.

Always tired, could never pay attention, looked stoned -hard practices and constant cutting got to them

This, though I went to high school right in the middle of the monday night wars with the NWO at its peak and Raw kicking arse with the rock, stone cold, etc. This made for some backyard wrestling type antics.

Both were legends in the BR Wrestling community. Gus actually lost his final match in HS if I recall (at the state championship). My brother was a state champ, but I was pretty middling. BRMHS had a good squad for a few years there. We had three guys in the State finals during the 1998 season (out of a total of 15 weight classes competing with the Jesuits, BMs, and Holy Crosses). The dynamics were different because we didn't have the big three sports, so the wrestlers were kind of seen as the meat heads, the soccer guys were the "lawn fairies," the track and cc runners were track fairies, and we didn't really care about the tennis players, swimmers, or gymnasts.
Our volleyball team acted as our informal cheerleaders and we reciprocated by attending their matches. Good times.

Our wrestling team had the highest GPA of any team sport (at least one of the years I was there).
Also 3 State championships during my 5 years......
BMHS.

They were guys that were, without question, the best conditioned athletes in school. They typically ran in cross country meets as "practice", usually competing pretty strongly. Compared to the football players they were all muscle and no fat.
Also they were usually pretty driven, at least one person was always a national merit finalist or valedictorian/salutatorian. GPA was usually above average.
