You sound like a quitter and maybe need to grow up a little. How much adversity could you two have possibly faced in only 18 months of marriage that was worth calling it quits? You'll have highs and lows in marriage, it's part of it. Sometimes you're wrong and she's right and vice versa. It's the getting through the rough patches TOGETHER that builds a strong marriage. Marriage takes work and each night I take a look at my wife and kids and I'm proud to see what I've worked hard for. It'll be 10 years from marriage in September for me and I love wife a little more each day.

Keep your dick in one place and work for your marriage. Don't be a quitter

The first couple of years are easy man. Lots of sex and taking trips together and stuff.
After she pops out a few kids is when the stressful stuff starts and that's when you find out what it's all about.

Today's women are on a whole nother effin level. Much easier to sex and go about your own way than try and maintain anything meaningful. These hoes aint loyal.

Why are you getting divorced? Did she cheat? Did you?

Are either of you trying to make it troublesome monetarily, or are you basically going your own ways and splitting possessions?

"Grew apart" after 18 months is BS. I'm guessing you cheated otherwise you would be woman bashing like the rest of the bitter cucks on here.

We've all heard this story, dated 7 years got married then boom.

I know a couple in which the girls dad spent $35,000 on a "perfect" wedding for a marriage that lasted 1 1/2 years :)

It was as mutual as it could be

Same here. We dated through college, got married after graduation, and were married 9 years. We grew apart.

She got hired by a big oil company right out of college and they put her on a fast track to upper management. She did great but was more married to her work than to me. We moved around a lot at first as part of her job. I was happy to support her and chose a career that allowed me to work from home. But after 9 years of her working 12-14 hour days, coming home and passing out exhausted, her being gone on business trips for weeks at a time, and most importantly, her treating me more like a roommate than a husband, things just got stale. There was resentment for sure. We tried to make it work but we just wanted different things out of life. I had established a career of my own and was done with moving. She wanted to live in a different country every year. Eventually, we decided we just wanted different futures.

It was a pretty friendly split compared to most. But it still hurt like hell and there was a lot of anger and sorrow on my part. Probably on hers too but she was better at hiding it.

quote:

1. How'd you get over it?
I spent a lot of my life in the gym and on the bicycle. I worked out until exhaustion, went home and crashed. Work and exercise kept my mind off it all. After 6-8 months of that I was in incredible shape, and my self confidence finally started to reemerge.

But as far as dating again, man, I was clueless and scared shitless.

2. How long did it take?
I'd say it you never fully get over it. But after about a year I was able to look back and see the wisdom in her decision to call it off. We were never going to get our tracks in sync and we were prolonging the inevitable. After a dating some and going through a whole bunch of discovering that HOLY shite, YOUNGER CHICKS ARE CRAZY AS frick, I met an awesome woman and found someone right for me.

3. What would you recommend my doing?
Go out and get shithammered drunk. Once. Bring a trusted friend that will keep you from doing anything TOO stupid, will listen to you cry, howl at the world, and wing-man you into the the arms of some slump buster (if that's what you need).

Then when the smoke clears, lay off alcohol for about 6 months. You don't need that enhancement to your fragile emotions right now.

Get in the GYM. Now is the time to focus on you. And exercise is a silver bullet when it comes to burning off energy, angst, and mental stress.

4. When should I try to date again?
I'd give it a little while. After being monogamous for so long you may find it harder than you think to get your mind right. I did. I remember being at a big social event and meeting this cute girl. I talked to her for a couple of hours then found my friends and told them about it. They asked if I'd gotten her number. I stood there speechless. shite, I forgot that's how it works.

Just let the dating thing happen in due time.

So how did you grow apart over 18 months? What was the trigger that made you guys file? There had to be something.
