That king cake probably didn’t taste good and was left to rot. It’s stale bro.

This is the epitome of Louisiana taking something common everywhere and making it some cultural emblem

You're a moron if you think this isn't Louisiana people trying to brag about being Louisiana people. I don't see people from Mississippi posting about how they leave the knife in the fricking bundt cake or their kids birthday cake.
Cringe arse trend.

King Cakes are not common everywhere, brah. I can't find one in Wisconsin to save my life.

Cakes in boxes are everywhere... as are those who leave the knife in vs those who get a fresh knife, or psychos who get fresh knives just to leave them in anyway, or those who say frick a knife and pull out fistfuls of cake.

There are people who cut one slice of cake and put it in the sink or dishwasher after?
I would be furious to open a cake box to find a cake already cut with no knife in it.
ETA: I didn't realize i had jumped into some coonass dick measuring contest. I legit thought we were making fun of people using a new knife to cut a slice of *any* cake. I forgot it was king cake season. Carry on...

OK, since I'm not from Louisiana and don't celebrate Mardi Gras at all, y'all have me intrigued.
I'm gathering from the thread that this king cake isn't consumed by everyone the same day?
If I'm having people over for a party and serving something like this, then yeah we're just going to leave the knife with it.
If you're buying something for yourself or your family and its going to be sitting on the counter all week, just leaving the knife in there just comes off as dirty and lazy.
But, it's your tradition and not mine so do it however you do it.

A family of 5+ getting a slice over the course of a day or 2 means all your butter knives get dirty.
Just leave the knife in the box after slice 1.

The kids will cut it with the icky knife. I get new knife. They cut more pieces. I get a new knife. So there is always a knife in the box. But it is not the same knife for 3 days. Maybe 1 knife each day. I have issues

I guess that's reasonable. Kind of a middle ground in the whole debate.

sooo you’d rather 4 dirty knives in the zink instead of one in the box?
