What to look for in a used Jeep Wrangler?

I always wanted one growing up. I know they aren't practical. Looking to grab one as a fourth vehicle, as oldest will be driving in a year or two.
Prefer a two door. Not sure how old I want to go. 4cyl or 6cyl? 4wd is a must.
I prefer stick shift, but open to automatic. Plus will keep her from texting and driving.
Figure they are so easy to customize and fix too.
. Looking for any advice.

It's not a real Jeep without a CrossFit, Salt Life, or 30A sticker.

I love jeeps but I don’t think they are good first vehicles. Pretty easy to roll over and take a little more caution (especially if towing). Personally I wouldn’t go 4cy if I’m looking for 4wd.

Don’t get a 4 cylinder
Decided what generation you want first then you can figure out which are the best years/options for that model.

Look for one with a 44 axle
Lots of noobs have put 33" tires on the 35 axle and torn shite up

I was a passenger in a Suzuki samurai that rolled over fun times. Thanks for seat belts. And roll cages.

Found one of these for my daughter after turning on a street during work. After 1 year of looking for a used one, and this one had 40,000K Original miles, lifted a little higher, but pretty much the same in every way including color. It is the extended one.
Bought it for 8500.00. If you haven't looked yet, you will learn that is a damn good price. Blue book was like 13K-15.5K if I recall correctly. No accidents and in very clean condition. I was shocked I found it and closed on by the afternoon I found it. It also has a hard shell as well.
This is 4wd and automatic. I wanted shift, but decided make it easy on her. She loves it because all the boys at her school want it.

I don’t entirely disagree with you, but a teenage girl will be fine with a D35 and 32s

You'll rarely find a 2wd Wrangler. I think you pretty much have to custom order one now.

Trying to get my 13 yr old son interested in them, they seem really abundant. He said he rather a Range Rover. Little fricker.

you looking for a project or a road ready ride?
if road ready and you have the coin don’t be scared of the fiat pentastar engine. It’s a massive upgrade over the last generation Chrysler engine

You would do better by getting her a used FJ Cruiser.
