Get two thighs, a side of greens, and some sweet tea from Gus’s.

Sun studio, Alcenia’s and RUN.

Literally best tour I’ve ever had and most memorable dining experience. Rest of town sucked. They don’t even pull the silver skin on their ribs.

Crosstown Concourse is worth a visit. Memphis is one of those places you really have to know where all the small places are. The Complicated Pilgrim is a lesser known brunch spot but probably one of the better ones too. Local chains like Rock n Dough and Huey's are usually pretty good. Saddle Creek is more upscale but boring, Broad Ave arts district is fun but you have to check the hours, Mud Island if you want an area to walk some BBQ off. I've lived in this area for about 2 years now and have been a frequent visitor for years before that.

I second this.

The Rendezvous is a neat place and worth visiting. Their ribs are dry and thin (always have been), not tender juicy, fall off the bone ribs, like most of us are accustomed.

Drive north to Reelfoot Lake state park and learn about what the earthquake swarm did. Look to see Bald Eagles.

Stay in the eastern suburbs. Germantown, Collierville and Bartlett are all nice and safe.
AKA where the white people live.

Memphis zoo is good if you have kids.

And even if you don't. When the wife was working up there we liked it so much we decided to support it with memberships.

True dat. Someone else already mentioned the Commissary for ribs. I'm more of a pulled pork person and always enjoyed One & Only.

For higher-end dining Owen Brennan's and Southern Social are excellent choices.

Damn I miss Germantown.
