3.5t unit in a 1200sqft shotgun house, serviced yearly. It runs all day to keep it at 75.

Seems plenty big enough for that square footage. My first house was 1400 and I think we had a 3 ton. It struggled during the really hot summers because the house had no shade.

If I come home and my AC is “intentionally” turned off, there’s gonna be hell raising. Esp, during this time of the year.

Last year, about this time, I came home and my wife had the thermostat at 75deg. My wife said “she was cold”.

Talk about pissed off.....I told her how would you feel if you worked outside all day, in extreme high heat temperatures, only to come home to a hot house???? Now i gotta adjust the temp and wait for the house to cool down.

Put a got damn sweater or jacket home.

You sound ridiculous complaining about a 75 degree home. It’s not like it was 85 inside.

im always perplexed by responses in these threads. like 76 in the summer is freezing cold in my house cause the thing runs 60-70% of the time during the day to keep it. i cant imagine what the bill would be if i dropped it to 70 like some of you baws do.

If my AC is off, my thermostat usually says 79-81, if we've been gone all day. I usually put it on 71 when were here, cut it off at night before bed.

Lots of windows full-sized, no trees on two sides, and I have 95° air encircling my entire house

Mine sits at 72 year around. It is an older house and I completely remodeled it when I bought it, down to the studs.

I have everything insulated, even the floor (crawlspace) and also new windows. My power bill is not bad.

The front units capacitor went out last summer while we were out of town for a few days and the temp there was 76. Back unit was 72. I replaced the capacitor (I keep spares) and in about 2 hours it was back to 72.

You need more insulation and better windows. Best money I ever spent.

That’s about right in this heat. Don’t turn your ac off during the day. It’ll take HOURS of constant running to get back to a comfortable temp, likely late into the night if you turn it off during the workday.

If you have a smart thermostat, let it get to 78ish and set it to start cooling to your desired temp starting at around 3pm.

To all the OT HVAC experts, I got one room in the house that doens't get good ac flow and it hotter than the rest. This bedroom had about double the amount added on (assuming it was years down the road after the AC got ran) with a bathroom. So it has one side of the room with the regular ac vent which gives out good air flow. But on the new addition part, the ac outlet puts out very wispy air and Im' about sure that is the problem with the room being too hot. Its like they just they added an extra line without compensating to make up for it (I say this since it stays hotter than every where else).

Is there much that can be done? Like is there a fan I could put on the weak side outlet vent, to suck out more air? Or is a window unit the only option (trashy I know). ??? Fans don't cut it.

You may want to invest a couple hundred in a window unit with a thermostat. It will turn itself on and off depending on the temp. I have one in my lawnmower shed and it’s fantastic
