I discovered that smell of the Bogalusa paper mill when I was a kid and we’d drive to town for hair cuts or to buy groceries. I’d always roll the window down enough to get a whiff of it. Moved away from there in ‘75 so I only get to smell it on rare visits. But it still brings back memories.
I know this isn’t a nostalgia thread but it caused a little of it for me

Not sure if these have been mentioned yet...
The smell after fertilizer/insecticide has been sprayed in a farm field.
The smell in the morning after a camp fire the night before.

Yeah. That’s one thing. But smelling your own? That’s a whole other thing.

For anyone who has worked at a bar or a liquor store, that chilled stale beer soaked cardboard smell.

Who doesn't like that, though? It smells like a job well done.

I was born without a sense of smell. Or at least I cannot remember ever smelling. This thread is so incredibly foreign to me.

Aviation fuel burned in my best friend's race car ('67 Camaro) when we were kids, smoke from burnouts, smoke from the barrel of my shotgun when squirrel hunting, the smell of my dad's Zippo lighter when he was filling it with butane, lacquer paint fumes from painting cars, rain on hot concrete, fresh cut st. augustine grass.

Were your ancestors sewer cleaners?

You know, oddly, squirrels themselves smell great after getting shot. I can't describe it, but it's almost a fresh sweet smell to the fur.
