a crew of Mexican roofers starting a reroofing job at 6:15 am on Saturday, July 4th, 2026?
I started out at 6:15 am (first light) to take my dog for a walk. There is a house several lots down from mine that has been in foreclosure for 4 months. The crew was already out there unloading their stuff.
The house had sustained roof and structural damage in a hail storm in June of 2024, and the owner, for whatever reason, decided to abandon it (she was a batshit crazy single woman).
So, today of all days is the day the bank decided it would be a great idea to begin the necessary roof repairs. Also, forecast to be the hottest day of the summer so far (102 degrees).

Mexicans aren't citizens, so July 4th is a word day for them.

Sounds like a pretty admirable work ethic to me. White people bitching about going back to the office could learn something from these frickers out there on a roof in 100° heat.
